http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/freedomriders/watch/

1)  Blog about several impressions you make from the film.  Think about:

  • What you see
  • What you hear
  • What you think
2)  In the film find our original image shown in class.  What "were" your initial impressions and what "are" your impressions now?

Class Blog: NYC Triangle Fire

Watch Triangle Film online at:

1.  Where was the Triangle Shirt Factory?
2.  What year(s) did it operate?
3.  What social cause was being played out at the center of the factory?
4.  What tragic event occurred there shortly after?
5.  What dramatic social reforms were implemented as a result of this tragedy?

The film depicts an epic clash between workers who fought for unionization and better working conditions, and bosses who fought equally hard to keep their factories free of unions and regulation.     While watching the film, make note of arguments on both sides of this debate.
6.       Then answer: Which of these arguments do you consider most persuasive?
7.        What caused public opinion to shift from favoring the factory owners' arguments to supporting workers' demands for workplace regulation?

8.  Did you see our original image?  What was the meaning behind it?  How did it differ from what you previously thought?
